ABOUT MOLLY
“Painting is a celebration for me – of the wonder of the visual world and the emotion and meaning of the spiritual.”
Molly Sieburg Courcelle
I am a fine artist working out of the Wedge Studios in Asheville’s River Arts District. I have a wonderfully supportive husband, Brian, and am the mother of two sons, William and Andrew, and a daughter, Martha Grace, adopted from Ethiopia in 2014.
Scripture continually captivates my heart in fresh and new ways and has become an important element in my creative process. Through my work I hope to reflect what the Lord is teaching me as I study His living and active word … a source of endless inspiration.
“Bringing my faith into the work gives purpose and excitement to the act of painting. While my visual vocabulary is directly linked to nature, the subject of my work is mainly scriptural. Not only do my pieces become about what the Lord is teaching me, but they can communicate something meaningful and personal to the viewer. I just love that!"
Growing up, my mother and artist, Bee Sieburg, encouraged me to view the world from an artist’s point of view. I attended Wake Forest University, receiving Bachelor of Arts with a focus in painting. Upon graduating I became involved in floral design while living in Cambridge, MA and Providence, RI. After moving to Asheville in 1997, my mother and I opened The Gardener’s Cottage, a floral and antiques shop in Asheville’s Biltmore Village, which we sold in 2004. By 2008, my mother and I both moved into studios in the Wedge Building in the River Arts District. If you are visiting Western North Carolina, stop by my art studio!
